Iredell Sheriff's Office examine possible connections to two 37 year-old murder cases. On September 6, 1975 while walking home from a party two girls ages 15 and 17 were kidnapped from the Fourth Creek bridge on Broad St. where they were led to a grisly fate. Both girls were attacked and left for dead. Only one survived. The victim described her suspect as a black male. Two weeks later on September 19, 1975 later the body of a black male that had been beaten, shot, and burned was found wrapped in a blanket off of Campground Rd. in Statesville. Detectives continue to search for the teen's kidnapper and murderer. They are also looking into the possibility of whether the dead "John Doe" on Campground Rd. was in retaliation for the attack on the teens. Authorities find no connection between the "John Doe" and the girl's attacker.
