Sixteen artists will participate in the Lakeside Artists Studio Tour Friday through Sunday.
The studio began hosting the tours in 2009.
Artists with homes on Lake Norman will open them up to the public, allowing visitors to walk through their studios and see creative minds at work. Each home features several artists displaying their varying art forms including painting, wood-turning, ceramics, jewelry and more.
“All of the homes are pretty close together, because we didn’t want a huge spread and to have people travel 100 miles to see each part of the tour,” said organizer and artist Sandie Bell. “Many of the artists who participate are part of the (Mooresville Artist) Guild, but we also get people who ask about participating, or we recruit them.”
Bell said that this year, there are six locations on the tour, with a mix of artists who have participated before and some who are new to the event.
“We didn’t have a tour last year, and that was the first year we’ve missed, so we’re excited to be back,” Bell said. “Even if you’ve been before, though, we’ll have new things that we’ve not had, so it’s worth coming out.”
Bell said organizers are hoping for good weather and strong attendance.
“You’ll get to meet the artists, talk with them, and see a working artist’s studio,” she said. “You can then buy directly from the artist if you like one of their pieces, so bring your checkbook.”
