Four suspects were charged after a report of shots fired earlier this week.

Jose Roberto Ruiz, 25, of Asheville was charged with felony possession of cocaine, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia. Ruiz received a $2,000 secured bond from a magistrate.

Carlos Alberto Perez, 19, of Asheville, was charged with misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor marijuana paraphernalia. Perez received a $1,000 secured bond from a magistrate.

Andres Castillo, 20, of Asheville, was charged with misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia. Castillo received a $1,000 secured bond from a magistrate.

Alejandro Perez Reyes, 25, of Asheville, was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $3,000 secured bond from a magistrate.

Shortly after midnight on Monday, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots fired in the area of Highway 901 near Interstate 77, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said.

A grey Jeep was reportedly seen leaving the area and heading south on I-77. Deputies searched the area for the vehicle and found it at mile marker 54 on I-77, according to a release.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and after speaking with the driver and three occupants, a deputy noted an open container of alcohol in plain view and a gun on the front passenger floorboard, the release states. A search of the vehicle resulted in deputies locating two more handguns, marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia, the release states.
