Troopers are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man Friday night.
Trooper C.L. Anderson of the N.C. Highway Patrol said a man jumped from the Cool Springs Road bridge around 7 p.m. Friday onto the westbound lanes of Interstate 40. He was then hit by a pickup truck, the trooper said.
“The pickup truck did not stop,” Anderson said.
He said the witness described the truck as a black Dodge Ram. “The witness wasn’t able to get a tag number,” Anderson said.
Anderson said the name of the person killed is not being released due to the pending investigation.
The westbound lanes of I-40 near the Cool Springs Road bridge were closed for a couple of hours as authorities investigated.
