A teacher assistant has been arrested by the Statesville Police Department and charged with one count of misdemeanor assault on a child under 12, according to the Iredell-Statesville Schools. As of Friday, she is no longer with the system, a news release states.
Genetta Dobbins of Statesville was employed with the Iredell-Statesville School District since Sept. 9, according to a release from the Iredell-Statesville Schools. She served as a teacher assistant at East Iredell Elementary School.
Dobbins was suspended with pay on Thursday, Oct. 24 pending an investigation. The suspension was the result of an interaction between Dobbins and an East Iredell Elementary student during the school day, the release states.
As of Friday, Dobbins is no longer an employee of the school district, the release states.
