Police said the suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money in a white 2009 Honda Accord.
Members of the Statesville Police Department and the Iredell County Sheriff's Office were seen at the entrance to a bank surveying the scene.
Five patrol cars were at the scene and investigators were seen coming in and out of the business.
It's not clear how much was taken; no one was injured during the incident.
Witness Veronica Brown was interviewed as she was exiting the bank. She told reporters three masked men came in and one pointed a gun at her face.
"I thought I was going to die," she said.
Statesville Police Chief David Addison said the suspect vehicle was found within a mile of the scene. Police are working on extracting evidence from the vehicle as of Monday afternoon.
They added the vehicle was found in a residential community.
Addison said the vehicle was reportedly stolen out of Charlotte at gun point.
"We are currently using canine units and our drone to search the area for any potential suspects. There will be a law enforcement presence in this area," the Iredell County Sheriff's Office reported on Facebook
Addison said the next step in the investigation includes retrieving security footage from the bank.
