A Lincoln County resident is in custody, accused of assaulting his girlfriend and kidnapping a child, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Jeremy Samuel Paris Sartin, 34, of Cherryville, was charged Thursday with first-degree kidnapping, assault inflicting serious injury, assault by strangulation and assault on a female.
Authorities said Sartin assaulted his girlfriend after she got the tires replaced on his car as a Father’s Day gift. Deputies said the incident occurred when the victim arrived home.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene, finding the victim with a bruised and swollen left eye, bruised nose, dried blood on her nostrils and red marks across her face and neck, a news release stated.
She told officers that Sartin had struck her repeatedly with his hands and feet, and when she attempted to flee she was grabbed by the throat by Sartin with both hands, authorities stated.
The victim called 911 after Sartin reportedly left the scene with the couple’s child, authorities said.
The release said the victim was taken to the Lincoln County magistrate’s office to secure a domestic violence protection order. She was evaluated by Lincoln County EMS and taken to Atrium Health-Lincoln to be treated for her injuries, deputies said.
Sartin was arrested the same day; authorities did not provide any information regarding the location of the child.
Sartin is due in court Thursday.
