Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the theft of more than $30,000 worth of lawn equipment from a school’s property.

On Monday, deputies went to East Lincoln High School, located at 6471 N.C. 73 Highway, regarding larceny of equipment.

A school official told officers a building inside the fence at the football stadium had been broken into and two zero-turn mowers and a John Deere Gator valued at $33,000 had been taken.

A lock had been cut off the door to gain entry.

The last time the building was known to be secure was about three weeks ago.

The John Deere 60-inch, zero-turn mowers were identical and the John Deere Gator were entered into a national crime computer base as stolen.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050, the Lincoln County Communications Center at 704-735-8202 or Lincolnton/Lincoln County Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909.
