A Stony Point man is facing charges of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in western Iredell County.
Richard Eugene Wingate, 40, of East Lackey Farm Road, was charged with felony conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for controlled substance. A magistrate set bond at $25,000.
Iredell Sheriff Darren Campbell, in a news release, said narcotics investigators and members of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement team and Interstate Criminal Enforcement team executed a search warrant at Wingate’s residence Feb. 7.
Campbell said this was the result of narcotics investigators receiving information about a suspect, who was identified as Wingate, distributing crystal methamphetamine in western Iredell County.
Narcotics investigators and members of the ACE team conducted surveillance operations in the area. They confirmed that Wingate was distributing crystal meth, Campbell said in the release.
Wingate was found to be in possession of evidence showing active distribution of methamphetamine, Campbell said.
