A Mooresville man was recently arrested on attempted rape and other assault charges after police responded to a domestic dispute.
On Jan. 6, Jason Matthew Hamilton, 46, of East Morehouse Road, was charged with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury and second-degree attempted forcible rape. He was also arrested on misdemeanor charges of false imprisonment and two counts of assault on a female.
Hamilton received a $55,000 secured bond on the charges and posted bail the same day as the arrest.
On Jan. 5, Mooresville police officers responded to an incident in the 100 block of East Morehouse Road where a woman said Hamilton had broken her leg and believed he was still at the residence, town spokeswoman Kim Sellers stated in an email. Sellers said the woman did suffer a broken tibia.
Warrants indicated Hamilton assaulted two others during the incident; a man suffered lacerations to the face, a broken nose and black eye, and Hamilton apparently grabbed another person by the throat.
The alleged sexual assault victim was also restrained on a couch against their will, warrants reported.
Two victims were transported to Davis Regional Medical Center for treatment, said Sellers.
Hamilton has a 2016 conviction for misdemeanor assault on female in Iredell County.
He is scheduled to appear in Iredell County District Court Jan. 27.
