A response to a shoplifting call ended with two Mooresville Police Department cars being struck and a man and woman facing charges.
Lameeka D. Calloway, 31, of Charlotte was charged with felony larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny. Tyrone L. Faulkner, 37, of Matthews, was charged with conspiracy to commit felony larceny as well as resist/obstruct a law enforcement officer, careless and reckless driving and assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer. A magistrate set bond for Calloway at $10,000 secured and Faulkner received a $50,000 secured bond.
The Mooresville Police Department reported that around 4:23 p.m. Wednesday, officers answered a call at Kohl’s at 350-T W. Plaza Drive. Employees reported witnessing a shoplifting that was in progress.
Officers got to the store and saw a woman, carrying items, run from the store toward an awaiting vehicle, the MPD reported. Officers pulled their patrol cars behind and in front of the vehicle.
The operator of the vehicle drove forward, striking the police vehicle and then backed up into the other cruiser, authorities said
Both suspects were immediately detained and arrested.
