Deputies found heroin during a search of the home of a man on probation, said Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell.
Joshua Lynn Sylvester is now facing charges of violation of his probation and possession of heroin.
A magistrate set bond at $15,000.
Campbell said deputies with the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team on Wednesday assisted North Carolina Probation and Parole with a warrantless search of a home in the 300 block of Harrill Street. As a condition of probation, Sylvester, 27, is subject to warrantless, random searches.
Campbell said deputies found heroin with several plastic bags and a set of digital scales.
Sylvester was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule I controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was also served with a warrant for felony probation violation by the Department of Probation and Parole.
Sylvester’s criminal history includes four counts of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, felony attempted obtaining property by false pretense and felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
