A Salisbury man was charged with weapon and drug offenses after a traffic stop Saturday.
Terry Isaac Brown Jr., 36, was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony possession of cocaine as well as misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Iredell Sheriff Darren Campbell stated in a news release that Sgt. Ernie Line, with the Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) team, stopped a vehicle in the 1700 block of Salisbury Highway.
When Line approached the vehicle, he saw an open alcoholic beverage container in the floorboard under the passenger seat, Campbell said.
A search was conducted and deputies found crack cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a loaded 9mm pistol in the front seat passenger’s possession, Campbell said.
That passenger was Brown and deputies, upon running a criminal check, learned he had an unserved warrant for assault on a female, Campbell said.
A magistrate set bond at $35,000 on the drug and weapon charges and ordered Brown held without bond on the assault on a female warrant because of the domestic nature of the charge.
Brown’s criminal history includes felony possession of Schedule II and felony larceny, multiple counts of misdemeanor second-degree trespassing and resisting a public officer.
His record includes charges of disorderly conduct, assault on a female, DWI, larceny, possession of marijuana and driving-related offenses.
