A registered sex offender living in Mooresville was recently arrested on drug charges after being listed as wanted for almost a month.
Ian Kelly Shuemaker, 36, of Woodwinds Drive, was arrested Thursday on three counts of felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/distribute a Schedule II controlled substance, conspiracy to sell narcotics and sell/deliver a Schedule I controlled substance. He was charged with misdemeanor failure to appear on criminal charges.
Shuemaker is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
He was originally listed as wanted in late August as the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office announced a long-term, drug-trafficking investigation that led to five arrests and two others being sought.
At the time of the arrests, Sheriff Darren Campbell said the investigation began in September 2019 with a report of methamphetamine being sold by Bonnie Christine Jackson, 39, of Brookefield Drive, Statesville. He said narcotics investigators began surveillance and were able to purchase drugs from Jackson.
Additional suspects were developed and investigators obtained warrants for Breanna Frances Oliver, 33, of Mooresville; Jerry Lee Lippard III, 38, of Statesville; Stephanie Anderson Williams, 35, of Statesville; William Austin Blankenship, 24, of Stony Point; and Vincent Cornelius Jones, 37, of Statesville, along with Jackson and Shuemaker.
All suspects except Shuemaker and Jones were arrested Aug. 21. Jones’ arrest status is not immediately known.
State records indicate that Shuemaker has a criminal history involving possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, habitual felon, indecent liberties with a child and sex offender registration violations. He has been a registered sex offender since 2006.
He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 9.
