A Statesville man was arrested Sunday for stealing a weapon and cash from a vehicle, said Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell.
Gilberto Vasquez Flores, 30, of East Gate Drive, was charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle and larceny of a firearm and received an $8,000 bond from a magistrate.
On Sunday evening, deputies answered a larceny call in the 500 block of Cool Springs Road, a news release stated.
The release said the victim indicated someone broke into a car and took a gun and roughly $120 in cash.
Deputies gathered information about a possible suspect and spoke with a witness who gave Flores a ride and indicated Flores had a firearm, Campbell stated.
Deputies went to Flores’ home and arrested him without incident, the release stated.
The release added Flores has a criminal history involving misdemeanor assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.
