A woman was charged with taking jewelry from a house she’d been hired to clean.

Tara N. Cleary, 27, of Jane Sowers Road, was charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering. She received a $10,000 bond from a magistrate.

Iredell Sheriff Darren Campbell stated in a press release that Sgt. Jeremy Younts talked to a woman who lives on Barry Oak Road about jewelry missing from her home. The report was filed Dec. 1.

The woman told Younts about a cleaning company she’d recently hired. Younts searched several data systems and was able to find the missing jewelry and learned it had been sold by Cleary, Campbell said.

Cleary, the owner of the cleaning company, had been the one to clean the woman’s home, Campbell said.

After additional investigation and more interviews, warrants were issued the same day as the report was filed and Cleary was arrested at her home.

This investigation is ongoing with possible victims from other counties, Campbell said. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Younts at 704-878-3180.
