An investigation into child pornography resulted in charges against a Statesville man.
Ross Arlington Edwards, 51, of Nixon Road, was charged with three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and received a $60,000 bond from a magistrate.
Iredell Sheriff Darren Campbell, in a news release, said the investigation began Thursday when the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by authorities with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office. The call, Campbell said in the release, was the result of child pornography sent through the internet by Edwards.
The case was passed on to Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit detectives.
Detectives with both offices executed a search warrant Thursday at Edwards’ home. Campbell said additional child pornography was located on an electronic device.
Edwards was interview, as was one witness, and Edwards was arrested.
The Alamance Sheriff’s Office also charged Edwards with two counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and he received a $40,000 bond from an Iredell magistrate.
Campbell said additional charges are likely once all of the seized electronic devices are forensically processed.
Edwards’ criminal history includes misdemeanor breaking and entering, DWI, second-degree trespassing and possession of marijuana.
