A second suspect has been arrested in the recent death of a 25-year-old Statesville woman.
Jhammar Vernon Bowen, 28, of Winston-Salem, has been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Shana Nicole Harmon, of 8th Street in Statesville. He is being held without bond.
Police also charged Qawiesha Khaleelah Tolliver, known as QB, with murder in the death of Harmon. Tolliver was arrested Jan. 23 and ordered held without bond.
The charges follow a Statesville Police Department investigation into the death of Harmon.
On Thursday, Jan. 16, Statesville police officers responded to the 1500 block of 8th Street in reference to a suspicious death. Investigators identified the victim as Harmon and, after further investigation, ruled it a homicide.
Statesville police investigators received numerous tips from the residents of Statesville, according to a new release from the department. Investigators also conducted interviews throughout the night and the days following the homicide.
On Friday, with the assistance of the State Bureau of Investigations, Winston-Salem Police Department VCAT Team and Greensboro Police Department VCAT Team, Statesville police arrested Bowen, the second suspect involved in the homicide, the release states.
Bowen was taken into custody without incident and charged. Statesville investigators transported Bowen to Statesville, where he is currently being held in the Iredell County Detention Center without bond.
