Two teens were charged in connection with Friday's deadly shooting.
Quiton Que’shon Kasey, 19, and Azontay Vontavius Sherrill, 18, were each charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and two counts of conspiracy.
Statesville Police Chief David Addison said the two are charged with killing Marcus Jauqice Moore and wounding Timmy Moore in a shooting Friday afternoon in the 400 block of Deaton Street.
Addison, in a press release, said the SPD’s Violent Crimes Unit began an investigation and identified Kasey and Sherrill as suspects. Addison called this a senseless murder.
Late Saturday night, the VCU and patrol division found Sherrill on Caldwell Street and he was taken into custody. Addison said police found a Taurus 111 9mm handgun when Sherrill was arrested.
A magistrate denied bond for Sherrill.
Kasey surrendered to police late Sunday night. Information on bond was not available.
