A vehicle chase that began in Gaston County Sunday afternoon around 5:45 p.m. ended in a Lincoln County soybean field - where the vehicle crashed.
Corey Allen Anderson, 30, of Stanley, was charged by Gaston County officers with felony possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing to elude arrest in a motor vehicle, reckless driving to endanger, failure to heed a blue light or siren, and resist, delay and obstruct a public officer.
Anderson was placed in the Gaston County Jail and received a $52,500 secured bond.
It all started with a vehicle that was reported stolen by its owner from Mecklenburg County. Officers in Gaston County met the vehicle as they were traveling to the call, a news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office stated. The chase traveled through Gaston County and into Lincoln County, where the car was crashed in the soybean field on Pleasant Grove Church Road, north of Crouse.
The occupants of the vehicle ran from the scene, a news release stated. Lincoln County deputies and the North Carolina Highway Patrol assisted in locating two of the people.
No value has been placed on the damage to the soybean crop in Lincoln County, the release stated.
The investigation is continuing by Gaston County authorities.
