School board members Chuck Gallyon and Bill Howell were recognized Monday evening for their commitment to educational training from the North Carolina School Board Association.

Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education Vice Chairman Chuck Gallyon was recognized with the Award of Excellence from the North Carolina School Boards Association. The Award of Excellence is awarded to school board members across the state who have completed between 301-400 hours of training.

Board member Bill Howell was recognized with the Certificate of Merit. The Certificate of Merit recognizes board members who have completed between 31-100 hours of training.

The North Carolina School Board Association strives to offer board members up-to-date and relevant educational training opportunities. Since its inception in 1985, the Academy for School Boardsmanship has provided an avenue for board members to develop skills and knowledge to carry out the task of leading the state’s school districts.
