High school golfers around the state will descend on the Sandhills this weekend in preparation for the N.C. High School Athletic Association state tournaments. The two-round events begin Monday.

Iredell County schools are sending four to compete.

South Iredell’s Thomas Meyer qualified for the 3A tournament at Foxfire Golf & Country Club in Jackson Springs. He shot 75 during the 3A West Regional at River Bend Golf Course in Shelby and was the last of six individuals from non-qualifying state tournament teams to make the cut.

Lake Norman’s Ryan Lux qualified for the 4A state tournament, which will be played on Pinehurst No. 8. Lux carded an 81 during the 4A West Regional at Statesville Country Club.

Pine Lake Prep’s Parker Mizelle and Justin Guilford qualified for the 1A state tournament, which will be played on Pinehurst No. 6.

Mizelle carded a 75 and finished tied for second place in the 1A Midwest Regional at Cedarbrook Country Club. Guilford shot an 80 and tied for 10th.
