Not a banner day
I see five of the city council members voted against Camping World flying a large American flag (City plots next move: Oct. 10). We as a nation should welcome the flag of any size. The five members who voted not to change the city’s flag rules (Roy West, William Morgan, Doris Allison, Keith Williams and Michael Johnson) should be ashamed.
Now the city is going to fine Camping World $50 a day until they take the flag down. If I was (CEO) Marcus Lemonis I would pack up and move two exits down. I have a mind to help him pack.
Now you need explain why Randy Marion is allowed to have an oversized flag on Interstate 40 (Editor’s note: The flag was “grandfathered” because it was installed before the city adopted its ordinance).
I am a veteran and proudly served during a time where we had to run the gauntlet just to board a plane home, so my generation is a little touchy about that flag.
Thank you councilmen “Jap” Johnson, Steve Johnson and John Staford for believing in America.
Why don’t you other five drive around and take down these silly signs that say “City of Progress.”
Flag should stay
I think that there is nothing wrong with Camping World's American flag (City plots next move: Oct. 10). As long as it isn't blocking anyone's view or getting in the way of trees or power lines, they should be able to keep it.
How unpatriotic of the city to think they can keep the company from flying the flag, no matter the size. It isn't hurting anyone or bothering anyone. They should be able to keep it flying.
America is great and I am proud to be an American.
Flagged for frivolousness
I've been following the story about the American flag at Camping World (City plots next move: Oct. 10). Just wondering if that's the only thing Statesville City Council has to worry about right now.
Amend this and get on to something that really needs their concerns. Let Old Glory wave free! Thanks for listening.
