Iredell County Fair


The fun downtown event returns with music, food and friendship.

WHEN: Friday, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

WHERE: Downtown Statesville on West Broad Street in front of Mitchell Community College.

WHAT’S THE DEAL: Phatt City, a beach band, performs. The event is free. Beer, wine, soft drinks and food will be available for purchase. Bring your chairs but not your pets, beverages or coolers.


Adults get a chance to dance the night away in a mature return to the high-school event.

WHEN: Friday, 7:30 p.m. to midnight

WHERE: Statesville Civic Center, 300 S. Center St.

WHAT’S THE DEAL: Single tickets $40, two-person admission is $60. Adult beverages will be served. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society-Relay for Life. For more information, visit the adult prom Facebook page.


The 84th Iredell County Agricultural Fair ends Saturday, following a nine-day run.

WHEN: Through Sept. 7. Gates open at 5 p.m. every day except Saturday when the gates open at 3 p.m. 

WHERE: Iredell County Agricultural Fairgrounds, 630 N. Main St., Troutman.

WHAT’S THE DEAL? Rides, entertainment, livestock and poultry judging are among the activities for the fair. Admission is $5 with children 6 and under admitted free. Wristbands for unlimited rides are $25. For more information visit


The play written by North Carolina regional author Karen Reynolds takes place with a Statesville twist.

WHEN: Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.

WHERE: Twisted Oak American Bar & Grill, 121 N. Center St.

The Moose Lodge Mooresville-Women of the Moose will host the 10th Annual Gold Fish Race.

WHEN: Saturday, 2-5 p.m.

WHERE: Moose Lodge 2012, 2126 Charlotte Hwy.

WHAT’S THE DEAL? Entry fee for the Gold Fish Race is $10 for children and $15 for adults, and includes a gold fish to race, a ticket toward a raffle basket, a meal and tea. There will be competition in various brackets, children to adults. All proceeds benefit Moose charities, such as Mooseheart and Moosehaven and local charities such as SCAN, Patriot Rovers, Hope House and LKN Humane.
