Naquwana Davis, better known as Chef Que, spoke to eighth-graders at her alma mater, Statesville Middle School, Friday about her career.
Davis told the students that she is putting the skills she learned at SMS, high school and culinary school to work in her business. She told them that math, English and science all play a role in running a successful business.
She discovered her passion for cooking while helping a friend and decided it was something she wanted to pursue. After working for others, she branched out, bought a mobile food truck, and now serves meals at everything from festivals to private events in two states.
Davis told the students her decision to start her own food business was a wise one. “People have to eat. You’ll always have a market,” she said.
