Four Statesville teens are accused trying to steal a vehicle, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.

Zane Marshal White, Alexander Scott Evans, William Tyler Suber and John Lewis Bayne were charged Wednesday with felony counts of breaking and entering, larceny, attempted larceny and misdemeanor injury to real property.

White, 16 was released to his parents; the release noted he has pending charges for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Evans, 18, received an $8,000 secured bond, and has a previous conviction of injury to real property, the release said.

Suber, 17, was issued a $10,000 secured bond; he has pending charges of felony breaking and entering.

Bayne, also 17, was given a $2,000 secured bond and has a pending reckless driving charge.

All four are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The release described the following incident:

On Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to a call regarding suspicious activity in the 200 block of Alpine Circle in Statesville.

The homeowner’s son told deputies he’d come home to get a boat and noticed a BMW parked on the road near the home. When he entered the driveway, he saw four young men running from the rear of an outbuilding.

The caller told authorities he chased the suspects, recognizing one as Alex Evans, who used to work for his father. The suspects reportedly ran to the parked BMW.

The reporting person caught up to the suspects and spoke with Evans. Evans said he was there working on a four-wheeler, the news release stated. The caller took a picture of the BMW license plate with his cell phone before the suspects drove away.

Deputies took the information and contacted Evans. Evans, along with the other suspects, returned to the scene.

The homeowner was interviewed and detectives found the outbuilding was broken into and found multiple items had been removed from it.  The homeowner also noted that four-wheelers in the outbuilding were damaged by persons  re-wiring the ignition switches, possibly in an effort to steal them, the release stated.

All four suspects were interviewed and taken into custody.
