The Iredell County Board of Commissioners convened in a special session Tuesday afternoon and selected Ken Robertson to complete the term of Jeff McNeely.

McNeely was elected to the board but left his term early to take the role of District 84 Representative on Monday. He replaced Republican Rep. Rena Turner.

Turner said she was stepping down in order to spend more time with her family. She officially left office June 27.

McNeely will serve out the rest of Turner’s two-year term; he was sworn in Monday in Raleigh.

He was first elected to a commissioner seat in 2016.

Robertson previously served 12 years on the board before his term expired in December 2016.
