The Youth Services Department is coming together after the Iredell County Public Library closed its doors for a week to move items back into the lower level after a renovation.
Library Director Juli Moore said the Youth Services Department had been moved out of the lower level of the Statesville branch in 2018 due to an environmental issue, but that the area will be open to the public Monday after months of renovations.
Moore said the staff moved 55,000 materials down to the lower level, which also features a completely redesigned working and learning area for children.
On the main floor, 46,000 items were moved back into their original spaces, said Community Engagement Librarian Jenny Levins. She said a few thousand items had been moved from the Reference Department on the upper level to the main floor, including audiobooks, new works and foreign-language books.
The redesign also creates new reading spaces across the library.
