A peace conference centering around abuse awareness is planned for Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sponsored by Just Ask Jannine and Know Your Self Worth, the event will be held at Ramada by Wyndham Statesville, 1215 Garner Bagnal Blvd., Statesville.
The main speaker will be Jacqueline Griffin, mother of Heisman trophy winner and NFL football player Robert Griffin III. She is a motivational speaker and founder of the nonprofit Moms Motivating Moms (M3), which has a mission statement on her website of “encouraging, educating and energizing moms by fostering an environment of inclusiveness.”
Speakers for the various workshops are Dr. Nicole Wagner, behavioral health professional; Yolanda Johnson, author of the book “Broken”; Sharon Hunter, minister, motivational speaker and entrepreneur; Amelia Moore, television host and journalist; Minister Sharon Torrence-Dwiggins and Anngeannette Pinkston, television producer and casting agent for television, films and plays.
The conference will also include entertainment, lunch and swag bags.
