Mooresville Arts will be hosting its 15th Anniversary judged photography show and competition, which is entitled “Silver Linings.”
The judge for this year’s competition, which is open to photographers older than 18-years-of-age, will be Ben Winkler, a photographer most recently praised for his photo series titled “Faces of Silver” in which he portrays the beauty of aging.
The categories for this year’s competition take inspiration from Winkler's photography and center on the phrase “silver linings.” The two categories are Translation by Design and Translation by storytelling. Photos entered in the categories must be a translation of the phrase “silver linings” using either purely visual elements of design or by expressing some kind of narrative that represents the phrase’s meaning.
Intake days for the show are June 29 from noon to 4 p.m. and June 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The show will be on display from July 2-Aug. 22 with an artists’ reception planned for July 12 from 6-8 p.m. First, second, third, and honorable mention prizes will be awarded in each category, and there will be a Best in Show award. Winkler will be signing books from his Faces of Silver series during the reception. This event is open to the public.
Winkler will also be presenting the quarterly program, which is open to the public, July 14 from 1-3 p.m. at Mooresville Arts and scheduling photo shoots during the days surrounding the events. If interested contact Carol Calvert at email@example.com or call 704-241-6103.
Sponsors for this year’s show include Fastframe and Frame Warehouse.
