Unless you’re directly affected by a deployed family member, it can be easy to get so wrapped up in our day-to-day lives that we aren’t always aware that members of our military are still being deployed on a regular basis.
Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is making sure that employees who are deployed with the U.S. military are remembered and honored in a very tangible way.
There are currently two members of the dealership’s service staff who are deployed with the National Guard/Reserves and on one Friday a month, the service team they left behind sport red T-shirts with R.E.D. — Remember Everyone Deployed. It’s a small but clear way that co-workers can show their support for their team members who are working to keep our way of life safe and let them know their efforts are not going unnoticed.
In fact, one deployed staff member, Nate Monrad, took it upon himself to nominate dealership owner, Jack Salzman, for the Patriot Award, which is presented by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) for support provided directly to the nominating Service member and his or her family.
The Patriot Award reflects “the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.”
Salzman stated, “It’s our privilege to support our team members who are deployed. We appreciate their service.”
The dealership always offers a discount to members of the U.S. military when purchasing a vehicle, and several times a year, it provides service members with a complimentary oil change as a “thank you” for their service.
Next time you’re at the dealership, located in Cornelius just off I-77, on a Friday and notice a sea of red shirts in the service drive, you’ll know it’s their way of Remembering Everyone Deployed.
