Statesville's Sonic has closed for good.

The corporate office confirmed the business is not reopening.

“The franchisee who owned and operated this location made the difficult decision to close the drive-in on July 1,” Johnny Jones, Sonic’s vice president of real estate and development said. “We appreciate the community’s support of the drive-in since its opening in 2007.”

Sonic was located at 630 Sullivan Road.

On the company website under the Statesville location, the words “Sorry, this store is permanently closed” appear in all-caps in red.

Underneath the description of the drive-in being closed are nearby locations.

“Sonic remains committed to serving guests at nearby drive-ins in Mooresville, Mocksville, Newton and Salisbury, North Carolina, providing the highest level of service and one-of-a-kind dining experience,” Jones said.

The closest Sonic to Statesville is now approximately 13 miles away.
