A Statesville woman is a big winner in the North Carolina Education Lottery.

JoAnn Mosher took a chance on a $5 instant game, Power 5s, and ended up with the top prize of $200,000, a news release said. After required state and federal withholdings, she took home $141,501.

She purchased her winning ticket at Cashion’s Quick Stop on North Old Statesville Road in Huntersville. Mosher claimed her prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

The Power 5s game started in August with five top prizes of $200,000. Two top prizes remain.

Ticket sales from scratch-off games help the lottery raise more than $700 million a year for education, the release said. For details on how these sales help counties in North Carolina, visit www.nclottery.com.
