This summertime Christmas lunch serves as a fundraiser for a variety of programs at Fifth Street Ministries.

WHEN: Sunday, Noon to 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Statesville Civic Center, 300 S. Center St.

The Iredell Museum is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong stepping onto the moon.

WHEN: Saturday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

WHERE: Iredell Museums, 134 Court St.

WHAT’S THE DEAL: Admission is $5 for anyone over the age of 2. Museum members get in free. The Iredell Museums staff is celebrating the anniversary of the Apollo mission with space-themed programs and a lesson on Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and how the team got them to the moon.

WHAT’S THE DEAL: Free. You can bring your own snacks and drinks. In the movie “Arrival”, a linguist works with the military to community with alien life forms after 12 mysterious spacecraft appear around the world.
