REPTILE DAY

Take a day to walk around and visit with some reptile friends.

WHEN: Saturday, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

WHERE: Allison Woods, 248 Allison’s Woods Drive

WHAT’S THE DEAL? A Day in the Woods event features snakes, amphibians and reptiles. Meet slithery friends one might find in the woods. Families invited. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a day of nature. $8 per person, ages 2 and under free. Preregistration is suggested by calling 704-873-5976. FRIDAY AFTER 5

The fun downtown event returns with music, food and friendship.

WHEN: Friday, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

WHERE: Downtown Statesville on West Broad Street in front of Mitchell Community College.

WHAT’S THE DEAL: Motel Soap, a classic rock, Motown and R&B band, performs. The event is free. Beer, wine, soft drinks and food will be available for purchase. Bring your chairs but not your pets, outside beverages or coolers.

SKULLS AND SKINS

Join a ranger to talk about some unique animal characteristics.

WHEN: Saturday, 11 a.m. to noon

WHERE: Lake Norman State Park, meet at the Swim Beach

WHAT’S THE DEAL: A ranger will talk about skins and skulls of different animals. You will be allowed to inspect and investigate each item.

CHARITABLE CRAFT

Learn to crochet at the Senior Center.

WHEN: Friday, 1-2 p.m.

WHERE: Iredell Senior Center, 344 E, Front St., Room 209

WHAT’S THE DEAL? Join the group to make items for charitable groups and the craft store. Beginner crochet lessons are available. No fee.

COIN CLUB SHOW

The Iredell-Statesville Coin Show features a variety of coins and currency.

WHEN: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE: Statesville Civic Center, 300 S. Center St

WHAT’S THE DEAL? The Iredell-Statesville Coin Club’s annual show features coins and collecting supplies, currency, jewelry for buy, sale or trade. A gold raffle drawing will be held. Free admission. For more information, visit the Carolina Prospectors Facebook page.
