Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina held a grand opening for its new retail store in Troutman Thursday.
The new store replaced a smaller Goodwill store which operated in Troutman since 1976.
“Our new retail store will be almost twice the size of our existing store in Troutman, with more inventory and a better shopping experience for our customers,” said Sara Butner, Goodwill communications manager. “The new location will feature a convenient drive-up area so donors can drop off items without having to get out of the car in bad weather.”
The grand opening featured store staff, local officials and members of Goodwill’s executive management team including Art Gibel, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina and Bill Haymore, vice president of Operations of Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina who participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m.
After the ceremony the store officially opened at 9 a.m and the public was invited to browse the inventory of donated clothing, furniture, shoes, toys and home decor.
The opening also featured food, coffee and giveaways including gift cards.
The new store is located at 522 N. Main St. in the Troutman Village Shopping Center, beside the Food Lion and will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 1-6 p.m.
The previous store was located just up the street at 666 N. Main St. and held a closeout sale before the grand opening of the new location.
