Wreaths Across America ceremony is Dec. 14

Marie Higgins and Clint Ingram place wreaths on the graves of veterans at last year's Wreaths Across America ceremony.

The National Wreaths Across America Day ceremony will once again be held in Mooresville.

Since 1992, a nonprofit organization called Wreaths Across America has placed Christmas wreaths on the graves of veterans, most notably at Arlington National Cemetery.

For the third year, remembrance wreaths will be placed on the graves of veterans at Willow Valley Cemetery on South Church Street, Mooresville. Clint Ingram, owner of Ingram Funeral Home in Mooresville and Marie Higgins, owner of Curves in Mooresville, are partnering together again this year to make this local event happen. Scheduled for Dec. 14, the ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.

Those wishing to sponsor a wreath for this year’s ceremony may do so until Dec. 2. Cost to sponsor an individual wreath is $15. Wreaths may be sponsored either in memory or honor of someone. For additional information on sponsorship and costs, visit the Wreaths Across America site at https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/NC0262P and type in Mooresville to find the Willow Valley Cemetery location to sponsor a wreath.

All are encouraged to attend the special ceremony and, as the website noted, to “join in the mission to remember the fallen, honor those who serve and teach our children the value of freedom.”
