WINSTON-SALEM—North Iredell’s Jonna Strange repeated as the girls’ 3,200-meter 3A state champion during the state indoor track and field meet Friday.
The senior logged a winning time of 10 minutes, 52.42 seconds. The 3A record is 10:48.48. Cuthbertson’s Lillian Nasta was second Friday, completing the race in 11:12.99.
Strange also won the 3,200-meter 3A state championship last year at the indoor state meet. She followed that up by claiming the outdoor title in that event last spring.
It’s been quite a run for the Furman-bound standout distance runner. In November, 2019, Strange captured the 3A state cross country championship.
