TROUTMAN Virginia Foard Scott, 57, of Troutman, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 24), at First Presbyterian Church. Following the service, the family will visit with friends in the church fellowship hall. Troutman Funeral Home is serving the family of Virginia "Ginny" Foard Scott.
STATESVILLE Devin Lynn Tedder, 37, of Statesville passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019. A memorial service will be held at New Beginnings Church, ( today, Thursday, Oct. 24) at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m., prior to the service. STATESVILLE Mrs. Mary Frances Glover Harris, 79, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019. A celebration of life service will be held at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont, Saturday, Oct. 26, at 12 p.m. The family will receive friends at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, Friday, Oct. 25 from 5 to 6 p.m. A praise and worship service will follow at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary of Statesville is serving the Harris family.
STATESVILLE Mrs. Ruth Billings Drum of Statesville, went to her eternal home after a very short but courageous battle with cancer, Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019. She was a lifelong resident of Iredell County, and was born July 23, 1941, to the late Lester Samuel Billings and Lona Hayes Billings. She graduated from Statesville High School in 1959, and married C.F. "Jerry" Drum Jr., Jan. 16, 1960. For several years she worked as a secretary at the Statesville Police Department and later, she also worked as a secretary for the Statesville City Schools and the Iredell Statesville Schools, before retiring with 30 years of service. She was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church and the Lydia Sunday school class, where she served as the class secretary. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by one sister, Novella B. Miller and one brother, Steven Allen Billings. Ruth is survived by her husband, Jerry; one son, David Franklin Drum (Hailey); one daughter, Tracy Drum Wilkinson (Scott), both of Statesville; three grandchildren, Conner Drum, Caroline Drum and Mason Wilkinson. She has one brother, Walt Billings (Betty) of Statesville; lifelong friend, Brenda Price Goodin; along with many nieces and nephews and friends who love her and will miss her cards. She was known for always having the right words to say to cheer someone up. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, at Western Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Spry and the Rev. Dr. Andy Lackey officiating. The family will receive friends at the church, following the services. Burial will be held Friday, Oct. 25, at Oakwood Cemetery. MOORESVILLE Mr. Robert Delane Sloan, 56 of Mooresville, 56, of Mooresville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 25, at 12 p.m., at W.H. Bryant, A.E. Grier & Son's Funeral Home in Mooresville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service. W.H. Bryant, A.E. Grier & Son's Funeral Home of Mooresville is serving the Sloan family.
TROUTMAN John Wayne Wyatt, 72, of Troutman, passed away, unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at his home. Mr. Wyatt was born Nov. 28, 1947, in Wilkes County and was the son of the late Robert Wyatt and Annie Mae Griffin Wyatt. He attended schools in Wilkes County and was retired from Troutman Chair Company. He was married to the late Linda Carol Parsons Wyatt, who died Feb. 1, 2019. Mr. Wyatt is survived by son, Rob Wyatt of Troutman; four grandchildren, Gary, Amber, Jessica and Kari Wyatt; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eileen, Shirley, Nancy, Claudy; and four brothers, Don, James, Kenneth and Jerry Wyatt. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, at Troutman Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Reavis officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
