STATESVILLE Ronald "Howard" Dagenhart Jr., 86, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at the Agape Hospice House in Lexington, S.C. Howard was born in Iredell County, Sept. 8, 1933, to the late Ronald H. Dagenhart Sr. and Beulah Mae Dearman Dagenhart. He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Curtis Dagenhart; and a sister, Shelia Sells. Howard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Statesville Chair Company for over 40 years. As a long-time member of Rose Chapel U.M.C., he loved and was loved by his church family. In younger years Howard enjoyed many sports activities including softball, tennis, water skiing, and golf. In addition, he loved dancing, all types of music, traveling, and watching old westerns. Most Importantly, Howard was devoted to his family and friends, but most of all to his wife of 65 years, Marie. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marie Martin Dagenhart; a daughter, Jan Daniels (Chip) of Lexington, S.C.; three grandchildren, Jodi D. Glenn (Mike), Erica D. Smith (Wess), Wes H. Daniels; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Brenda D. Pence (Bill); a brother, Terry Dagenhart; and a special caregiver, Dena Finch. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, at 1 p.m., at Rose Chapel U.M.C., with the Rev. Gary Camp officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
