April 18, 1944 - January 29, 2020 Mr. Richard Hugo Hollister, 75, of Mooresville passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Genesis Healthcare of Mooresville. Mr. Hollister was born on April 18, 1944 in East Cleveland, Ohio to Kenneth C. Hollister and Dorothy C. Hollister. He served in the United States Navy with most of his time on the Saratoga. After serving in the Navy he graduated from Ohio Technical College in Cleveland, Ohio. He was retired from Lowes. For 46 years he was active in the Boy Scouts of America serving in Troop # 162 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Mooresville. Richard served as a member of the Gemstone District (Iredell County) Boy Scouts of America where he received the District Award of Merit which is the highest recognition given at the district level. He was also involved with the training of scout leaders at the Piedmont Council Boy Scouts of America where he received the highest recognition given at that level being the Silver Beaver Award. Richard served previously on the Board of Directors and longtime active volunteer at the Mooresville Museum and was an active participant at the South Iredell Senior Center in Mooresville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hollister was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Hollister. He is survived by his sisters Martha Fulmer and husband Greg of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Margaret Moser of San Diego, California; two nieces Monica Wisdom and Deanna Johnson and two nephews Mark Shuping and Jeffrey Moser. The family and friends of Richard would like to thank the staffs at Summit Place of Mooresville, Genesis Healthcare of Mooresville and Palliative Care and Hospice Care of Iredell County for their loving care. A private gathering of family and scout leaders will be held at Boy Scout Camp Bud Schiele, where his cremains will be placed.
