November 4, 1917 - February 3, 2020 Lucy Maude Kyles Padgett, 102, of Statesville, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at Maple Leaf Health Care. Born in Alexander County, Nov. 4, 1917, Lucy was the daughter of the late George Lambert and Minnie Echerd Lambert. She was the foster daughter of James and Mary Belle Kyles. On Aug. 17, 1940, she married Coleman Padgett and began to raise their family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Jan. 5, 1993; one son, Jerry Padgett, Aug. 21, 2005; and two brothers, Silas Lambert and Paul Echerd. Lucy retired from Mark Industries, where she worked as an inspector and was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church, where she attended until her health began to decline. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jo Anne (Wayne) Ledbetter and David (Kaye) Padgett; daughter-in-law, Roberta Padgett; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Rodney McAllister. Burial will follow at Cleveland Town Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 225 Morgan St., Troutman, NC 28166. The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Maple Leaf and to Dr. Carla Pence for their exceptional care and love shown to Mrs. Padgett and their family.
