November 20, 1939 - February 1, 2020 Mrs. Melinda Ann Sherrill Younger, 80, of Statesville, died Saturday evening, Feb. 1, 2020, at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County, Nov. 20, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Frank Henry Sherrill and Lillian Jane Gilleland Sherrill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Joe Younger; and a brother, Jeff Sherrill. She was a homemaker and a member of Front St. Baptist Church. She enjoyed family, her dog, Harley, trips to the beach, flower gardening and feeding her birds. Survivors include a son, Jody Younger; two daughters, Donna Younger Stull (Clifford) and Rhonda Younger Keever (Chris); along with three brothers, Charles, Jimmy and David Sherill; and two sisters, Carol Duke and Joan Karriker. She is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Front St. Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Stutts officiating. The family will greet friends in the church sanctuary one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
