Added incentive in the form of cross-town fairway bragging rights provided just the fodder for Mooresville High School’s girls golf team to prevail.
The Blue Devils fired a team stroke total of 127 to better the score of 145 managed by that of non-conference foe Pine Lake Prep in a two-team match held at the Mooresville Golf Club course.
Mooresville secured team medalist honors in the nine-hole affair.
The Devils doubled up their pleasure as well by also housing the outing’s overall individual medalist. Mooresville senior Lauren Martin earned outright ownership of the round’s best single score with a one-over tally of 37 strokes.
Also using their efforts to aid the winning team’s cause included the 41 notched by Megan Bornkamp as well as the 49 fashioned by Olivia Vero.
As is the case with all girls high school golf matches, teams add together their three lowest scores to reach a stroke total.
For Pine Lake Prep’s Pride, they were topped by Caroline Johnson’s score of 42 while also taking into consideration the 49 shot by Caroline Thomas as well as the 54 fire by Ann Lilly.
Mooresville’s girls golf team, currently leading the early stroke standings within the I-Meck Conference, return to the course when engaging in a match on league member Mallard Creek’s home The Tradition golf course Tuesday.
