TROUTMAN—South Iredell split two games Saturday during a tri-match it hosted, beating Hickory in four sets and dropping a wild three-set battle against Fred T. Foard.
Marissa Meyerhoefer led the Vikings in a 25-15, 25-16, 19-25, 25-20 win over Hickory, finishing with 13 kills, 10 digs and eight aces.
Taylor Osborne had 16 kills, nine digs and a pair of aces against the Red Tornadoes. Other notable performers included Malina Harris (32 assists, 14 digs), Ali Warren (25 digs, three aces) and Leah Davis (11 digs).
The Vikings (9-3) went to extra points in the second and third sets against Foard before ultimately losing 25-14, 29-27, 37-35.
Meyerhoefer recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs. Osborne finished with 18 kills. Harris handed out 39 assists to go with her 12 digs, and Warren led the Vikings in digs with 31.
Ashleigh Thompson had five blocks for South Iredell, and sophomore Brooklyn Ford contributed six digs.
