A Mooresville man has been charged with larceny after stealing a van from a local animal park, arrest warrants indicated.
On Monday, Adam Joseph Little, 31, of North Academy Street, was charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle and six counts of misdemeanor resisting arrest. He received a $75,000 secured bond.
Warrants indicated that Little is accused of stealing a 2012 Ford transit van valued at $10,000 from Zootastic Park. Zootastic owner Scottie Brown said that Little was a former employee. Brown said that he fired Little Saturday. Little was living on park property during his employment and had until Sunday to vacate the premises, Brown said
Brown said Little had disappeared Sunday afternoon, but Brown was then informed by workers that Little had returned around 8:30 a.m. Monday. Brown said was told Little had taken the van.
Arrest reports indicate that Little was taken into custody in the 300 block of North Academy Street the same day as the incident. Brown said he got the van back the same day.
Warrants indicate Little attempted to flee deputies several times while being processed at the Iredell County Detention Center.
Little has a criminal history involving burglary, breaking and entering and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 17.
