A Mooresville woman, already charged with assault was recently arrested and charged with intimidating a witness, arrest warrants indicate.
On Tuesday, 27-year-old Monica Gail Mitchell was charged with felony intimidating a witness by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. She received a $25,000 secured bond.
Warrants state Mitchell came out of the courtroom and said “I’ve got you now” to the person she was charged with assaulting.
On Aug. 30, Mitchell was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill/inflict serious injury and received a $50,000 secured bond at the time.
Detective Bradley Henderson with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office outlined the incident in a search warrant filed in August:
On Aug. 29, deputies went to Davis Regional Medical Center concerning a woman suffering multiple lacerations.
The woman told deputies she was at the Family Dollar in Harmony and was leaving the store when she met Mitchell in the parking lot. She said Mitchell was the former girlfriend of the man that she is involved with. She said she suspected Mitchell came to the store to try and get the man to go back home with her.
Mitchell and the victim began fighting with each other and, at some point, Mitchell took out a knife. Over the course of the fight, the woman sustained a number of lacerations. She also suffered a broken hand while trying to defend herself, reports indicate.
The Record & Landmark does not identify alleged victims of assault without their consent.
Deputies filed warrants for Mitchell’s arrest the same day of the incident, and took her into custody at her apartment in the 700 block of Lark Glen Drive the next day.
Mitchell is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 27.
