A fatal accident shut down part of Interstate 40 West on Wednesday afternoon at around mile marker 156. The interstate was reopened shortly after 5 p.m.
Troopers at the scene confirmed one person had been killed, but did not disclose how many other people were injured.
Three vehicles appeared to have been involved in the crash, including a tractor-trailer and a truck. A man was also seen being taken out of his car, placed onto a stretcher and into an ambulance shortly before 3 p.m.
More than two dozen first responders were at the scene around 3 p.m.
